Class Guidance
We wished to introduce the findings we had produced in our research of Xiaoxi Street tourism resources, and so made plans to go to each class to make brief presentations. Before assembling the data for these presentations, we split into three smaller groups: group one would write about the history, cultural, and key events of Xiaoxi Street, group two the cuisines, and group three the historical relics.
Group one | Group two | Group three | |
---|---|---|---|
Members | You-hsuan, Hao-ping, Yu-hau, Jia-ying | Yu-ting, Ting-yu, Min-hsin | Min-hung, Tsong-lin, Tse-yun |
Content | The history and culture of Xiaoxi Street | Local cuisines | Introduction to historical relics |
We found that it would be somewhat troublesome, and next to impossible to instantaneously make corrections and modifications amongst group members, if we were to combine our PPT files only after we had each finished our portions. After discussing with the teacher how we could use Google Docs to make online PPT files and including all members into its shared editing function, we began making our PPT together online.

After we completed our PPT online, we exported our online PPT into a normal PPT file, saved it onto a USB drive, and did our presentations with it.

Before giving our presentations in each class, each group rehearsed in advance by the order in which members were to proceed and the actual presentation in a natural science classroom. We stuttered a lot a did a generally poor job in our first practice run. The teacher told us that we needed to speak up on stage, and that we can’t simply read the text, since that would simply be reading and not reporting or presenting. After numerous practices, we were finally able to give a moderately decent presentation, and made preparations to begin our presentations at fourth grade classes.
Repeated practice before actual presentation |
After we completed our presentations at the fourth grade classes, we set to work on the problems in our presentations, such as standing too far away from the screen, staring too hard at the PPT, among others. After we came up with solutions for these problems, we proceeded to give our presentations in fifth and sixth grade classes.
